I haven't been doing much with this blog lately, however, I am participating in "the Book of Me, Written by You". Here is a link to that blog.

My family, my life, my story. This blog is my record of my search for ancestors here in the United States and their countries of origin. It is also a record of my life and that of my descendants. Genealogy is a long time passion of mine and I hope you will join me. My main surnames of interest are Grashoff, White, Chaffin, Wells, Matzdorff, Fogleman, Stinehart, Omvig. Past, present, and future all come together. Preserving the present is as important as discovering the past.

Updating the binders.
This is a photo of some of my research my binders. As my sister has stated, I may be crazy. I have been spending a lot of time organizing and updating my binders. I have updated their covers with personalized photos. I am now updating the dividers in my binders with a personalized, tab divider page. I am hoping this lends more authority and importance to my research after I am gone. I have also been updated my citations, so on.

Cousin bait
I have heard much from genealogy friends about "cousin bait". I never really thought that this blog would attract any attention, however, this week I received an email from a relative on the west coast. She is my second cousin once removed. Her grandmother was my mother's cousin. Her grandma and aunt always came to visit my Grandparents and I remember spending many hours with them playing cards and actually doing some crafting. It was so nice to know that my feeble attempts at blogging actually made a connection with someone.
This is a picture of Fran of my mother, two of her brothers, a cousin of mine, and Fran's daughter.

German Research
I got an email from a Lady who actually lived in Germany and did research at the Reide Church! I am so jealous! She was able to share a picture of that church with me. That is my goal someday to be able to go to Germany to the land of my ancestors.

Fogleman Reunion
A Fogleman reunion is scheduled for today at the Methodist Church in Washta, Iowa. I didn't know about the reunion due to a change in email addresses! I hope everyone has a wonderful time catching up!

Success!
Just this weekend, I had my first contact from someone who found me through my blog! I am so excited. She had relatives from the same area in Germany as some of my ancestors.
I am going through some "material" I received from my Great Aunt Ruby's research. There are two Banker's boxes full of papers so this will take a while to do it justice.
For a break, I am also going through my binders again. Now that they are basically up to date, I am going through and dressing up and fine tuning the binders. It is about time for the Genealogical Proof Standard study class to start, so bye for now!

Catch up time!
I have been absent for a long time, I know. I have spent a lot of time organizing my genealogy research folders and papers that had not yet been processed. I have gotten through everything I had stacked up, some back to 2002!!
My cousin's son added another twig to the family tree this month. That is dutifully recorded in my Roots Magic.
Next, I want to start going through the boxes I inherited from a great aunt who was an avid genealogist.
I am currently doing a study group on Thomas W. Jones book "Mastering Genealogical Proof". That is also keeping me very busy!
